Snow in November ?

Post by missy »

So my local paper have posted that there is a chance we could be seeing snow by the 6th of november but then I noticed an old name I've not heard in a while "James Madden" ! I didn't know he was still working at Exacta Weather...

Who else has had this from their local newspaper ?

I wouldn't be taking any notice of articles like that. That said, possibility of colder weather in the next 8-10 days seems possible.

Yes, snow for some areas looking quite likely, brobably northern areas in 10 days or so...welcome aboard BTW.. a bit quiet at the moment but we're slowly building.

The BBC are saying there might be snow in some areas from this weekend but won't commit to where or how much. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/articles/c170pq49rd1o

Definately getting colder as northerly winds try to get established, the fly in the ointment is a developing low moving south in the flow, in late Jan it would bring great excitement, however, in November it has warmer uppers embedded. Consistancy in the models for it to get colder, no consistancy in the models regarding this late weekend low.

We had snow here, (northeast Lancs) then it froze, then it snowed again and froze again. It’s all gone now due to 2 days of constant heavy rain but the country lanes were like glass - lethal - and no sign of gritters except on the main roads.

So Kev, when are we likely to have more snowfall or is it going to be like the summer, just a taster of how it could be.

Nothing pointing towards a lengthy cold spell from what I can see at the moment..im expecting high pressure to have more to say in December than is normal for the time of year, however Im thinking it will be centered more at out lattitude as opposed to Greenland or Scandinavia which we need for much colder conditions. January probably the time I would be looking for this to move North. On another note, nothing to suggest a prolonged wet and windy spell either. Shorter cold or wet spells cannot be ruled out.
