ch 5 at 5 today the big freeze of 63 worth a watch again

Though my mum disagrees, I'm convinced that the harsh winter of '63 was responsible for my early arrival in October that year.

For me 2010 was the most memorable. Had so much fun.
I do remember a real snowy and cold snap at some point in the mid 90's. Not sure when.

January 1982 the one for me, that wont be beaten in my lifetime here.

1963 for me.
It went on for weeks and weeks. There was no central heating or double glazing and those wonderful icy feather patterns on the inside of windows that you rarely see now were magnificent. The weather forecasts were not a lot of use - either ´it MAY snow’ or ´it IS snowing’. The country just got on with life as much as possible and coped without complaint.
I particularly remember nearly being knocked senseless by a huge icicle that descended from a building and landed on my head!

Best winter had to be anywhere between my first memories (1981ish) and reaching about 5' tall (about 1990). Snow seems deeper when you're short and I'm 6' 3" now.

I guess that makes 1982 my best winter, but I can only just remember it. The 'big boys' had made an igloo in the mountain of snow a snowplough had dumped at the bottom of the hill. My mum took me to see it but wouldn't let me go in. I wasn't too chuffed!
