Happy Winters Soltice

Today marks the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year in the UK. From this moment on, the daylight slowly begins to return, and each day grows just a little brighter.

It’s not only a key point in the seasonal cycle for weather watchers, but also a day rich in tradition and celebration:

✨ Stonehenge Gatherings – Thousands travel to Stonehenge to witness the sunrise aligning with the stones. Modern-day Druids, pagans, and visitors come together to welcome the return of the light.

🔥 Druid & Pagan Ceremonies – Across the UK, solstice rituals honour the rebirth of the sun, reflecting themes of renewal, hope, and the turning of the year.

For those of us watching the weather charts, the solstice reminds us that although winter still has much to offer, frost, cold spells and maybe a few surprises, the gradual march back toward longer days has officially begun.

Here’s to brighter mornings ahead, even if winter isn't finished with us yet ❄️🌅

Yes, totally agree! I get an additional minute in the evening from Tomorrow raising to 4 minutes by Saturday!

I love it when we have long days. One we get past new yeaars day, my excitement arrives as its a new year and I know it won't be long before the summer. I love the snow, but I love the sunny day even more. I hate being cold. Sorry, snow and cold lovers just being honest.

Same here. British summers are so special. Even if wet, they are warm (enough), they are light, bright and green. Life everywhere.
Love cold and snow but not a fan of the dark, wet, miserable winter.
